A grant from the Foundation funded a year long project targetting teachers and other staff at 27 senior schools in the South Oxon and Vale of White Horse council areas. This involved information packs as well as personal visits to make them aware of what a young carer is and the difficulties they go through. It ran alongside a competition for the students to take part in a poster competition also aimed at raising awareness of the often hidden issues faced by carers.
This was a very positive initiative to raise the profile of young carers amongst their peers and also those who have charge of them on a daily basis.
