OCF have supported the Parasol Project on a number of occasions. Parasol works with young people who are in some way disadvantaged, whether it be through disability, learning difficulties or the home environment. They also work with able-bodied young people who help and support those with disabilities.
"As a result of the funding we were able to take a group of young people on a 2 day canoeing and camping trip in Wales. All of our work is inclusive, with a particular aim being for our groups to represent as wide a spectrum of young people as possible. A total of 52 took part in this project, ranging from young people with multiple impairments to able-bodied young people from a variety of backgrounds and situations. Some are excluded from school and have very challenging behaviour, whilst others are high achievers and some are from very disadvantaged backgrounds. Three of the young people who attended the canoe/camping trip had never been outside of Oxford."
"My experience of the Oxfordshire Community Foundation, and the Grants Manager in particular, was excellent. The form was easy to fill in and any difficulty I had with the process was quickly solved by a phone call. The Foundation's understanding of our situation made the whole process smooth and painless."
